FEED is a staunch advocate and partner of the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) due to the success of Bio-Intensive Gardening (BIG) technology, intensively cultivating small areas of land using nature’s own ingredients to rebuild and maintain soil productivity.
Since 2005, the BIG Intensification Program has brought BIG technology as well as health and nutrition education directly into the classrooms of over 100 poor, rural schools in the Philippines, reducing malnutrition and transferring life-long agricultural skills to communities, particularly through Training of Trainers programs.
