2015 FEED Patrons & Partners Raise Funds for Scholarships & Livelihood Projects from Musical Tribute 2015

1 December 2015, Makati. On 25 November 2015, guest performers Fides Cuyugan Asensio (soprano), Ophie Mananquil-Bakker (Mezzo), Josh Tiu, Lorenzo and Henry-Jacques (Tenors) joined the Southeastern College (SEC) Children’s Choir and Manila Symphony Orchestra for a Musical Tribute to Education & the Environment.

The concert was attended by around 350 FEED Patrons & Partners, including teachers and parents of SEC; the Philippine Army, attended by General Henry Sabarre (Assistant Commander of the 7th Infantry Division, “Kaugnay Division”) and General Art Tabaquero (former Commander of the 8th Infantry Division, “Stormtroopers”), latter also a FEED Board member; and with the keynote of Senator Loren Legarda on “People, Planet, Partnerships” delivered by ex-Governor of Antique (2001-2010) Salvacion “Sally” Perez,
Director in the Office of the Senator Loren Legarda; and attendance by U.S. Consul General Donna Blair and the Netherlands Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Mrs. M.C.T. (Marion) Derckx.

All guests, performers and crews were invited to bring home with them one to two seedlings of the Palomaria (Calophyllum inophyllum) sweet-scented calophyllum/Alexandrian Laurel plant/tree – a medium-sized or large tree sometimes reaching a height of 20 meters. Flowers are fragrant, white, 2 to 2.5 centimeters diameter, and found throughout the Philippines, along the seashore; also found in India to tropical East Africa and through Malaya to Polynesia.
