Another People’s Organization Launched in Bulacan for the Protection of the Environment

IMG_142829 May 2017, Hagonoy, Bulacan. The Lingkod sa Kalikasan at Kaunlaran ng Hagonoy (LIKKHA), a people’s organization dedicated to serving nature and the environment, was launched today at the Municipal Hall of Hagonoy,  Bulacan.

Coordinated by the Municipal Environment Officer (MENRO)Municipal Environment Officer (MENRO) of Hagonoy of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Mr. Stephen Payawan, and head of the Hagonoy Fisher & Farmer’s Cooperative, Mr. Victor Cruz, the Mayor of Hagonoy Raulito “Amboy” Manlapaz Sr. planted the first Mulberry seedling at the Municipal Hall as a symbol of the consolidated efforts between the government, community and private sector.

The event was witnessed during the 8am daily flag ceremony with 140 LIKKHA community leaders from Bulacan, comprising a diverse representation of the local population, including fisherfolk cooperative members, public school teachers, concerned senior citizens, farmers and individual volunteers – including the One Child, One Tree representatives of FEED and other NGOs.

FEED is proud to be working with the staunch environmental leaders of Bulacan from all walks of life, and will continue to find sustainable solutions for critical, flood prone areas of the country to tackle water and food security shortages faced by coastal and inland communities suffering from the accelerating, door-step challenges of climate change.
