Calamba, Laguna, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), April 2014. UPLB’s Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Dr. Oscar Zamora, and Director of the Office of Student Affairs, Dr. Leticia Afuang, acknowledged FEED’s “continuing partnership with UPLB and the invaluable support to its students through scholarship awards“.
“Thanks to the ongoing contributions from our donors, volunteers, scholars and partners, and the firm leadership and academic quality of UPLB’s thesis programs, we were most keen to expand our FEED scholarships to complementary fields of study a.o. agronomy, agriculture, biology, environmental sciences, (social) forestry and other prominent sciences, to support students, research and professional capacities the Philippines needs to strengthen its agricultural heritage, future and culture….
We are now looking into the possibility of further expanding our scholarship outreach to remote villages and basic environmental education support, such as in upland farm communities in La Union Province, where agricultural lands require the support of advanced farming communities to remain competitive.”
