05 Oct 2022, Laguna Quezon Land Grant (LQLG), Siniloan. Fifty (50) keen Dimension-All ecowarriors arrived at site so ready to plant their 200 upland native Philippine forest trees.
The welcome and debriefing by the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB)’s Forester Reynaldo E Lorida, LQLG Supervisor, described the evolution of deforestation in the Philippines, and the transitional efforts of the University (FEED’s longest Living Legacy partner) to shift more towards social forestry and community-based reforestation, with a focus on livelihood development – marked and remains a central pillar of any effort to move towards sustainable forestry management and eventually certification on this master planned site – one of two, when combined cover over 9,000 hectares of protected forest.
Following the debriefing, the fifty Dimension-All participants warmed up and stretched prior to the 45 minute paced trail trek up to their planting site near the top ridge, where 40 seedlings of each native Philippine forest species (sourced, propagated and managed from this site by the surrounding communities) were planted: Malaruhat, Bani, Malasantol, Lanite and Igang.
They were assisted by the loyal forest guardians and protectors of the Land Grant: Randy Velina, Shermae Canzana, Teotimo Argete, Rodante Rasay, Jimlie Ortega Arnold Comingking, Bernard baldaria, Jomer Balino, Renato De Leon and Joel Velina.
Thank you for being so enthusiastic and sincere in your tree-planting efforts, may the forest be with you always!

How Trees Secretly Talk to Each Other (BBC News)
Trees talk and share resources right under our feet, using a fungal network nicknamed the Wood Wide Web. Some plants use the system to support their offspring, while others hijack it to sabotage their rivals.
