On the 15th of July, 2022, amidst the breathtaking landscape of Siniloan, Laguna, within the pristine environs of the Quezon Land Grant, nestled majestically in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, Bluestone undertook yet another monumental initiative in their ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavors. This marked the nth iteration of their Community-Based Tree Planting Program, a concerted effort aimed at fostering environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation.
The event marked the start of a significant effort: the planting of indigenous Philippine forest seedlings within the expansive confines of the Laguna-Quezon Land Grant. Spanning over 9,000 hectares, this protected forest reserve stands as a bastion of ecological integrity, teeming with diverse flora and fauna. It was within this hallowed domain that hundreds of eager Bluestone participants converged, each motivated by a shared vision of environmental sustainability.
In the words of Forester Reynaldo E. Lorida of University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), “If every citizen of the Philippines planted a tree every year, we could add 100 million trees per year to combat deforestation, the adverse effects of urbanization, and unsustainable ‘development’.” His passionate plea highlighted the crucial role of collaborative efforts such as the one undertaken by Bluestone Philippines’ play in addressing pressing environmental challenges.
Bluestone, renowned as a non-bank mortgage lender operating across the Philippines, has consistently demonstrated its commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Specializing in near-prime residential lending, the company has leveraged its expertise to support initiatives aimed at tackling malnutrition and promoting sustainable food production. Notably, Bluestone has previously contributed to the expansion of the Laguna-Quezon Land Grant’s Biointensive Gardens, thereby facilitating the cultivation of climate-resilient native seeds.
Central to the success of this endeavor were the Forest Guardians, under the wise guidance of Forester Reynaldo E. Lorida, and the essential support provided by Rose Bocado. Their unwavering dedication and expertise were instrumental in ensuring the seamless coordination of this transformative event.
“We’re not just a company, we’re a community! Inside and outside of the office, we strive to make a positive impact on the world around us,” remarked Bluestone, encapsulating the ethos that underpins their corporate philosophy. Indeed, through their unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, Bluestone continues to set a commendable example, inspiring others to join hands in safeguarding our planet for future generations.
