RPMC Plastics Plant 200 Trees in Sierra Madres

2 July 2023, Laguna Quezon Land Grant, Siniloan, Laguna.  6 enthused staff from RPMC Plastics planted 200 trees at the Laguna Quezon Land Grant, contributing 100 native Philippine forest trees for two separate but related divisions of their company, for a total of 200:

  • 50 Bani and  50 Malaruhat Puti for RPMC PLASTICS PHILS. INC. 2068-B Candido St. Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City; and
  • 50 Malaruhat Pula, 50 Malalansones for RPMC PLASTICS PHILS. INC. 4093 Servando St. Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City.

The planting effort was part of the companies’ compliance drive with BOI Memorandum Circular #1 which requires BOI-registered firms to plant at least 100 trees within their premises or along the perimeter of their compounds.

BOI requires firms seeking tax incentives to plant trees

“If they don’t have space even for perimeter planting, these BOI-registered firms can plant the trees in a park of their choosing, as long as they would be responsible for their care and maintenance,” Leviste said, adding “We will be auditing these companies for compliance.”….

Leviste said the BOI and the DENR are also studying the possibility of using fast-growing species such as gmelina, eucalyptus and neem as an alternative to forest species which have a longer maturing period.

“The aims is not so much to undertake a massive nationwide reforestation but to rekindle in the business sector the motivation to take part in the effort of environmental protection and preservation,” said Leviste.

“We are after the awareness and sense of responsibility of the business sector. We have to develop a culture of environmentalism.”

NATURE IS SPEAKING (Narrated by Julia Roberts)

What can I do to stop climate change?

“As the world warms, extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense, sea levels are rising, prolonged droughts are putting pressure on food crops, and many animal and plant species are being driven to extinction. It’s hard to imagine what we as individuals can do to resolve a problem of this scale and severity.

The good news: We are not alone. People, communities, cities, businesses, schools, faith groups and other organizations are taking action. We’re fighting like our lives depend on it — because they do.

In a world of more than seven billion people, each of us is a drop in the bucket. But with enough drops, we can fill any bucket.” –  David Suzuki
