For Love of Environment, KMC Solutions Plant 1000 Trees in Sierra Madres

24 September 2021, Siniloan, Laguna, Sierra Madre Mountain Range.  KMC Solutions planted 1000 seedlings at one of the top ridges of the Laguna Quezon Land Grant (LQLG), an over 4000 hectare protected forest reserve co-managed by the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), FEED’s first Living Legacy partner.

Due to the previous logging activities, urbanization and agricultural expansion our Philippine forest is quickly diminishing. Planting trees is one of the solution to help our environment to recover.it provide habitat to wildlife, reduce pollution, it also preserve the soil, and prevents landslide and floods, it is one of the best action to combat climate change.

25 KMC Solutions employees had a great and a very challenging rainy experience at one of the top ridge in Laguna Quezon Land Grant. KMC Solutions and the volunteers opted to do something good for the environment. Planting trees in a rainy weather is a fun and challenging outdoor activity. Due to the inconsistent weather the volunteers end up drenched and cold due to the sudden rain right after the tree planting.

FEED and UPLB work with the small group of community to take  care for the planted sites to improve survival rates through weeding, mulching and other tasks for the next 3 months. Demonstration, and planting materials are provide on the site, refreshment and lunch are all prepared by the local community that serves as their alternative livelihood.

KMC Solutions’ 1000 trees have also contributed to the Sierra Madre Greening Program managed by UPLB.  KMC participants were very grateful to know that after a 40 minutes relaxed and casual trek up to the planting site (one of the top ridges 300 ft up), that we would be able to share some before and after pictures (see below sections) of their planting.

The LQLG is one of the few protected and thus treasured secondary forests managed and patrolled by our dedicated forest guards, ensuring the continued high survival rates of up to 90% of the trees planted.

NATURE IS SPEAKING (Narrated by Julia Roberts)

What can I do to stop climate change?

“As the world warms, extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense, sea levels are rising, prolonged droughts are putting pressure on food crops, and many animal and plant species are being driven to extinction. It’s hard to imagine what we as individuals can do to resolve a problem of this scale and severity.

The good news: We are not alone. People, communities, cities, businesses, schools, faith groups and other organizations are taking action. We’re fighting like our lives depend on it — because they do.

In a world of more than seven billion people, each of us is a drop in the bucket. But with enough drops, we can fill any bucket.” –  David Suzuki
